Publisher's description:
NotRun is a simple-to-use application that gives you the possibility to create a list with programs to prevent from launching. It can be password-protected to restrict the access of other PC users.
Setup and systray integration
Setting it up takes minimal time and effort, since there are no unfamiliar options, software requirements or third-party offers bundled. Although this isn't mentioned, it gets integrated into the Windows autostart sequence, which means that it runs by default every time you turn on the computer. This can be later disabled.
Once fired up, it creates an icon in the systray and sits there minimized until you bring up its configuration panel by double-clicking the icon. It doesn't signal its presence with a balloon message.
Create a list with apps to block
The main window has a simple design and layout, enabling you to locate and find the executable item of a program with the aid of the browser. It's possible to add as many entries as you want to the monitor list.
NotRun minimizes to the systray and must remain running in the background to prevent the specified applications from launching. It can be protected with a password as well as customized when it comes to the text color. After exiting it, the status of the specified programs returns to normal. Plus, their paths are saved in the list for the next launch.
Evaluation and conclusion
It remained stable throughout its runtime in our evaluation, without triggering the operating system to hang, crash or indicate errors. System resources consumption was minimal, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly.
Thanks to its intuitive interface as well as practical and straightforward settings, NotRun can be seamlessly handled by all types of users, even those less experienced with such software.
